Waitara Aged Care Project

Changes to Council zoning created an exciting opportunity for Waitara Gospel Chapel to redevelop their existing church site.

The vision was to relocate the church into a new ground level facility which was to be financed by the construction of aged care units in the tower above. The new church facility was to be targeted to the needs of the new enlarged multi-cultural community that now surrounded the church.

Design Solution

The proposal had to face many restrictions and limitations caused by the surrounding development, such as a restricted development site, over shadowing of other properties, car parking and many other issues.

Aibee Architects were able to use computer modelling and shadow analysis to provide a suitable building envelope that would comply with the sun requirements of the planning controls. A full design proposal was then prepared utilising this envelope.
